Licensing
All music on OurMusi.cc is released under Creative Commons (opens in new tab) licenses. Here's what that means in practice.
The short version
You can use this music in your project — podcast, film, game, video, classroom, live event — without asking permission first. The one requirement is attribution: credit the artist by name and note the license.
That's it for most of our releases. Some licenses add a condition or two, described below.
License types used here
CC BY 4.0
Full license (opens in new tab)Use, share, remix, or build on the work for any purpose — including commercially — as long as you credit the artist and indicate if you made changes.
Used by most releases on this label.
CC BY-SA 4.0
Full license (opens in new tab)Same as CC BY, with one addition: if you remix or adapt the work, your version must be released under the same license.
A copyleft license — derivatives stay free.
The artist waives all rights. No attribution required. Use it however you like.
Equivalent to public domain.
How to give credit
Attribution doesn't need to be elaborate. A short credit line is enough:
"Epicycles" by Brylie Christopher, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
In video, a credit in the description or end screen works. In a podcast, a brief mention or show notes credit is fine. The goal is that someone who hears the music can trace it back to the artist.
What you don't need to do
You don't need to ask permission, sign anything, or pay a fee. You don't need to share your project with the artist (though they'd probably enjoy hearing about it). You don't need to register anywhere or use a specific platform.
Questions
If you're unsure whether your use is covered, the Creative Commons FAQ (opens in new tab) answers most cases. You're also welcome to get in touch directly.
