About OurMusi.cc
What we are
OurMusi.cc is an independent label for artists who release music under Creative Commons (opens in new tab) licenses. We believe music is more valuable when it can move freely — into podcasts, films, games, classrooms, and community spaces — with nothing required from the listener beyond giving credit.
The label exists to make that music findable, presentable, and properly documented, without asking artists to give up control over their work.
Free Cultural Works
We have a preference for releases that qualify as Free Cultural Works (opens in new tab) — a standard that goes a step further than standard Creative Commons. A work qualifies when it can be freely used, studied, copied, modified, and redistributed by anyone, for any purpose, without restriction.
In Creative Commons terms, this means licenses that do not include the NoDerivatives (ND) or NonCommercial (NC) restrictions. The licenses that meet the standard are:
- CC BY 4.0 (opens in new tab) Attribution only — the most open option
- CC BY-SA 4.0 (opens in new tab) Attribution + ShareAlike — derivatives must use the same license
- CC0 (opens in new tab) Public domain dedication — no rights reserved
Most music on this label is released under CC BY 4.0, which means you can use it freely in any project as long as you credit the artist.
Our Artists
Currently home to 2 artists across ambient, piano, electronic, and experimental music.
